This mid week warmup should likely only stall the right of drop and clear in the Oak and other area smaller waterways. On Saturday there were bass boats fishing on the south side next to the Port Gibson bridge. Downstream spots on the Oak for the past weekend may have been tougher on what was dropping and clearing flows, although we did not hear from many guys. After a cold night last night, look for a further drop in flows all around and clearing water color. A couple days of warm temps and some rain yesterday has the trib flows up and rolling again! Flows in the Oak were higher yesterday but expecting that to retreat again toward medium and slightly stained. Its fall and its leaf fall time so expect maybe daily water level fluctuations on the Oak thanks to hydro power operation. Thats more typical of what we would have normally seen a month ago. Avoid close contact, such as shaking hands, hugging, and kissing. Lets hope the weather keeps serving up the so-far good fishing chances! There is plenty of water cover to hide fish or to encourage any late migrations of browns or early migrations of steelhead. Good chance that flows can be contained in the turbine channel so look for a good head of turbine water. We believe our web reports are the straightest poop by far about Oak Orchard and most WNY conditions. Well have to wait and see how much flows will change but it should bring flows up high but not blown. The bend in the rod didnt feel like an average steelhead and we were thinking a decent king salmon was on the line. Consider how wet its been for months now, the high water tables, saturated fields and brim full swamp headwater supplies and youll come to realize the typical slow rise and quick fall of trib levels is going to occur more like quick rise and slow fall.
