Inspect before selecting

Measure the local pitting, corrosion or erosion depth. Confirm that the load-bearing sealing strip remains suitable for the joint. Compound selection does not replace assessment of joint geometry, bolt loading or the equipment manufacturer’s repair procedure.

Application sequence

Prepare the sealing faces to the specified condition. Treat local cavities with the selected FILLING 1000 or 2000 grade. Use FILLING basic on the remaining sealing surface. Apply the prescribed layer rather than filling an unrestricted assembly gap. Follow the manufacturer’s heating requirement for FILLING 2000.

Compatibility rule

FILLING products are compatible with each other. Do not mix FILLING 1000 or 2000 with other material. Do not use Birkosit alongside a FILLING repair grade in the same application.

Testing and operation

FILLING basic is not suitable for hydrostatic testing. The manufacturer identifies FILLING 1000 and 2000 as suitable for hydrotests, with operational test conditions including at least 15°C and 3 bar. Agree the complete joint test procedure before assembly.

Interpreting the ratings

Pressure values refer to different joint constructions and must not be used interchangeably. The manufacturer’s 10-year service-life statement for machined split joints depends on correct application and observance of service intervals.
